This is one of the benefits of paint protection film. It is not a permanent application, but we recommend professional removal.

We recommend letting the paint cure for at least 30-60 days prior to installing paint protection film (depending on the paint process). Gases from the paint need to escape before being trapped between the surface of the vehicle and the film. If not fully cured, the film can discolor from the inside out and/or the adhesive on the film can fail from the paint gases.
Installations typically take a minimum of 2 days this includes vehicle prep, film installation, and final review with quality control. However, the amount of coverage and level of installation difficulty will determine the installation time. So, the process could be longer. We do not rush the job – we take the time and care needed to have a great outcome.

The patterns are cut in-house on our plotting machines, using state-of-the-art technology. Once the excess material is removed, the areas to be covered are sprayed with installation fluid. Then, the kit is peeled away from a release liner and transferred to your car. The kit is moved into position atop the installation fluid to allow for proper alignment. Once the kit is positioned, a squeegee is used to extract the installation fluid which allows the paint protection film to adhere to the vehicle’s surface.

Film is maintained/cared for in the same fashion as clear coat. Please click on the Film Care link.

Installation is quick, hassle-free, and our dealers will take you through the process step-by-step. The film may be computer cut to precisely fit your windows, and is usually installed on the interior side of the glass using adhesives that are water-activated. Window films need time to cure or dry out, usually for a number of days. But it can often be longer.

Yes. In order for us to have the best installation process possible, we are required to open a vehicle’s hood and doors and leave them open for several hours. We recommend that all clients bring their own vehicle specific battery tender so that we can insure the vehicle’s battery does not die or get damaged during the time it is being worked on.

Yes, window film does not have to be dark to provide benefits like heat reduction, energy savings, and ultraviolet (UV) protection. In fact, some darker films are dyed polyester that simply provide greater privacy.

Coatings such as these will not hurt the film or interfere with the film’s self-healing properties as long as the correct product and amount is used. Rahal Paint Protection recommends these coatings be installed over top of the film. There’s really no advantage to have the coatings installed before the film. Installing a coating before the film is installed could create adhesion issues. This could cause the film to lift along the edges.
